What is considered your day of ovulation?

What is considered your day of ovulation? Is it the day your OPK is pos or 1 to 2 days later.

From what I understand, you ovulate within 24-36 hours of receiving your first positive opk.

I generally label the day after the first positive opk as ovulation day. But if the timing is iffy and it's a toss up between 2 days, I pick the later date.


Me: 45, unexplained (but now ancient) Husband: 46 (perfect in every way) Married 21 years 1 daughter born 07/2011 after TTC for 12 years

Ok so at 7:45pm the night before i ovulated the OPK was a very very faint line. I felt that i ovulated at 2pm the following day so i tested again and had pretty close but not matching lines and that night i had the same two lines the following morning i had lighter and lighter lines that night and now have no two lines. My confusion is that the positive opk should come 24-36 hours before i ovulated...and seems to have come right at the time that i did? is this common?
