How did you choose your OB? I'm so confused, and need to get on a schedule.
I have been seeing the same gyno for the past few years. She seems ok, but she really doesn't spend any time answering my questions. And, I just found out she is rated 2.9/5 on HealthGrades. Now that I'm pregnant (very early...5 weeks), I need to find a more suitable doctor. There is a hospital with a great birthing center near my house, but my current doctor is part of that group. The other hospital does not have a great birthing center, but the doctors seem to have better ratings. I'm just not sure which route to go. I've always gone with female doctors; which limits my choices. But, maybe at this stage, it doesn't matter. I'm open to any insight you girls can offer. Thank you!

I asked friends for opinions on their OB's. I had a fantastic one where we lived before but thats 3+hrs away and since moving here 10yrs ago, I havent needed one. Once I got a few names, I searched reviews and Canadian databases on the recommended doctors and made my decision that way. I started with him as a gyno while still ttc, and was more than happy with his care so I continued to see him as an OB as well. My last OB was also male. Are u set on a female only? U can def open up ur options if u include men...most reviews Ive seen, men fair better. Weird, cuz u'd expect the female to understand ur "feelings" more, but they dont. At the end of the day, male or female doesnt matter, u want who will take care of u and ur baby...reviews go a long way, theres a reason she got 2.9!!

Its not abnormal to feel weird about having a male doctor, but in all honesty, if u find the right one, u almost forget he's a he. Then when ur in the delivery room, hahaha, all modesty is out the door. Once u see how many ppl are viewing ur lady bits, and poking at them, and the sounds u make lol...male doctors will be the least of ur concerns!! ;D
U'll be fine. I promise!! =))
Congrats, btw! =))

I did have to get set up with a new OB and I have to wait almost 6 weeks to see her. I have to go to my primary Doctor for blood work to confirm my pregnancy. I am 15 DPO , with BFP at 11 DPO so I am early. I am 35 with a history of gestational diabetes and preeclampsia in my past pregnancies, so they may consider me high risk, so I knew getting to a doctor was important. I go in the morning to my Primary Care Doctor I trust him to get me in sooner with a OB if needed. Good luck it can be challenging, the best doctors are not always the easiest to get into.
