Question

When to announce my pregnancy...and Easter family events are coming up!

I just got a bfp this week! But, I'm only 14DPO, so I'm not sure if I should spread the word, yet. And, to complicate things, Easter is this weekend, and my family will surely recognize that I'm not drinking a glass of wine with dinner. 1) How early did you tell? 2) How likely is a miscarriage in a 32 year old healthy woman (first pregnancy)? 3) Would you tell this early?

Hi there, I waited until I was 8 weeks pregnant and then miscarried at 9 weeks! I'm pregnant again now and waiting until 12 weeks. I told my parents and my husbands parents immediately so I have support if anything goes wrong again! It all depends on how you think you might handle a misscarriage would you want everyone around saying sorry or only close family or no one so you can deal with it with your partner!? This is me just me playing the devils advocate! Do what you feel is best! Most people tell others after their first scan which is usually 12weeks. Good luck and wish you a healthy happy pregnancy! :) x

With my first, I told my mom and bff as soon as I found out...no one else was told til I turned 12wks. This time 'round, I told my bff (mom has passed) when I found out, inlaws and facebook world at 12wks. I have no history of mc's, but I wouldve wanted my mom and bff by my side should anything bad happened. Thats how I made my decision...it just depends how close u are to ur family. Best of luck! =))

My first pregnancy, I told everyone I saw/knew, etc. And almost immediately lost the baby at 6 weeks and it truly sucked for months having people ask me about it and having to say it was over. My second pregnancy, I told family after 13 weeks and the rest of the world at 20.

But you know you. Tell whoever you feel comfortable telling!

Personally, I told my bf and my mum the day I got my BFP. I was so excited and thought to myself 'how am I going to keep this quiet until I'm 12wks'. I only ended up telling a couple of my close friends over the next couple of weeks. And now I'm glad that I didn't make the big announcement to everyone because I ended up being diagnosed with two blighted ovums at 8wks and miscarried 2wks ago. This was my first pregnancy and I'm 31.

For me in future I will be waiting til I see an embryo and a healthy heartbeat on ultrasound before I make an announcement. Even after seeing a heartbeat there is still a risj of miscarriage, but the chances drop dramatically.

But you have to do what's right for you. Congrats on your BFP!

I recommend waiting until you pass the 12 week benchmark. I had 6 miscarriages and all of them happened within the first trimester. If you need support from someone, just tell your mother, but not friends, neighbors, or distant relatives. Best wishes and the Lord 's blessings.

Thank you for all the great input! I think I'll make up some other excuse for why I'm not drinking. I sure wouldn't want to hear from each member of my very large family if something happened. It's such an exciting time, but so stressful, too! Happy Easter to all of you, and thanks again for the valuable advice!

My excuse for not drinking was I didn't feel a hundred% so didn't want to drink. But still wanted to show my face at the party. Good luck x
