Question

Just needing to let it out.

I got a faint bfp last week then Sunday I had brown/egg white mucus loads and loads of it. Then the spotting turned pink. Then last night i bled heavily and rang a dr today who confirmed a misscaraige. I was advised to take a HPT next week and if negative then I had a loss if positive to go dr to have a scan and blood tests done.
I told my husband as he was the only one who knew I was pregnant. So when this happened I looked for support from my best friend but I get the impression she doesn't believe me.

My question is when did anyone get a negative test after a loss?

Hi there. I had a D&C done at 9 weeks because baby's heart had stopped beating. But after my D&C I continued to test and after about 10 days I received a negative test. But my midwife told me that was very quick. Many women have to wait longer. It's all to do with how far along you are and many other factors. I think it is strange that your doctor confirmed a misscariage over the phone! How far along are/were you?

Also the reason I spoke on the phone is where I live it is good friday and there are no drs to visit so I had to speak on the phone to a locum dr and I described clearly what has been and is happening and he confirmed a loss and I was only to see the dr if I got any worse.

I have had 1 miscarriage at 8 weeks and multiple chemical pregnancies, so I understand a little bit of how you are feeling. With the chemical pregnancies (which are just really early miscarriages) I would get a positive pregnancy test that would fade to nothing over about a weeks time. It was always very depressing to me as I longed to have a baby (which did eventually happen).

I know this is maybe tmi for some but how long did the bleeding last? Is it still happening? If I was you I would also keep testing every other day to see if the line stays or gets lighter/darker etc... I recently had some spotting I'm 6 weeks pregnant (fell immediatly again after D&C!) any way... I phoned my midwife (here in holland you skip the doctor and go straight to midwife! She informed me that bleeding between 5-10 weeks during pregnany for some is very normal. Of course I don't know all the details but I don't think you should rule it put as a definite yet but try protect yourself from keeping your hopes up! If you get me? X

I'm not sure what country you are in, but it seems odd to me to have a doctor confirm a miscarriage over the phone. Yes heavy bleeding can often be a sign of miscarriage, but the only real way to know is via blood tests to check HCG levels and/or by ultrasound (although if you are only 5wks you may not see anything on ultrasound anyway).

I miscarried 2wks ago at 8wks. I took my first HPT last night and it was negative.

I hope everything turns out ok.

I am in the UK and it was a bank hoilday so there are no drs available only in a hospital you speak over the phone when it's a bank holiday and the asses you and see if you need to go to hospital. As I wasn't in pain and it was nearly over I was deemed fit to stay at home but if I got any worse to ring straight back.
