How to know when to test if you have irregular periods?
Hi, so my periods have always been all over the place. Occasionally I will get them every two weeks and then there are times where I will go 5 or 6 weeks between periods. I have problems with my progesterone and that's what tends to get them to come more frequently. The problem I'm having this cycle is I am now at 5 weeks between periods (37 day cycle to be exact) and I want to test, but I don't want to get my hopes up and have my period start tomorrow since it's all over the place. I don't have any symptoms yet but I am having pain on my right ovary (side note- I had corpus luteal cysts on my right ovary with all 5 of my pregnancies: 2 living, 3 miscarriages) Would you test or just wait it out? I'm so tired of seeing negative I don't want to do it all over again.

Do you use OPKs or take BBTs? I had very irregular cycles but my luteal phase was consistent (most women have consistent luteal phases. So whenever I finally ovulated, I knew to expect AF about 14 days later (after 14 days, if it didn't show up I would test to see if I was pregnant...The only 2 times it was later than 14 days, I was pregnant). My shortest cycle was 23 days my longest was 47 days. I conceived on a 40 day cycle and a 44 day cycle.
The key to irregular cycles is knowing when you ovulate. So, if you aren't using some method of tracking ovulation, consider it next cycle (if you aren't successful this cycle). Good luck!
