Question

Can ovulation tests detect pregnancy?

I am out of pregnancy tests (not due til Friday) But I don't have a lot of patience, what I do have a lot of is ovulation tests. Has anyone had an ovulation test detect a pregnancy? I'm quite curious as I have read that LH and HCG are a similar hormone and that it is possible to detect pregnancy with an ovulation test however it is not possible the other way around.

They will detect hcg but usually after an hpt does. The ovulation test has to be positive (not just show a line). I tried it out this time on the day I got my BFP and the ovulation test was negative. In fact, it wasn't until I was around 5 1/2 weeks until the OPK was positive. I've heard mixed results from other ladies.

The point is, you'll probably just cause yourself more confusion and then you'll want to run out and buy more pregnancy tests anyway. Just wait until Friday when AF is due and test again with a pregnancy test. Good luck:-)

I agree with everything Steph35 posted. Additionally, a lot of women have an additional LH surge right before AF, so you won't know if you're detecting LH or hcg. I'd get an hpt - it measures only what you are interested in.
