Does Clomid really work?
Hi there ladies! My dh and i have been trying to concieve for over 4 years now.But due to me having Pcos and not ovulating we've had no luck.We finally got some help and I am starting clomid next month! We are Very excited but don't want to get our hopes up incase it doesn't work. How successful is clomid and how long can it take to work? Also are the side effects bad? Would love to hear from anybody who has been on it or is currently on it:-)

I'm on cycle 4 or five. I've lost track at this point. I have PCOS. The side effects suck but are manageable. While I'm not pregnant yet I do seem to be ovulating. Going for a 21 day progesterone test Monday to double check. My side effects are different each month. One month I'm grumpy the next I'm weepy. The consistent ones are hot flashes, I can feel ovulation time with cramps, and it dries up cm. if you notice the last one happening I suggest preseed. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.Sorry to hear you have not had much luck. How long do they keep you on clomid for before they try you on something else.?I'm praying we get somewhere on the clomid alone. Really can't handle the thought of more agonising months of nothing but negatives. How long have you been trying to concieve if you don't mind me asking? :-)

I have PCOS and have been through 5 cycles of Clomid - started at 50mg and went all the way up to 200mg. It was tough at first because I was not responding to the Clomid (no ovulation) but I started responding at 200mg. BFP on second "responsive" cycle - I know it feels disheartening to keep hearing that it hasn't worked/ seeing the BFN, but keep trying! I will note also that I have a doctor who is pretty aggressive with treatment, and it made it a little easier because I felt like something was being done. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply, this is very reassuring to hear . Congratulations on getting your BFP at last! All we can do is hope and pray that it works for us.The doctor at the hospital said he had high hopes for us,but you can't help but be a little on the reserved side can you.I wish you all the luck in the world with your pregnancy.Fingers crossed we will be blessed with a sticky bean very soon too:-)
