Ovulated earlier than expected, HPT still negative with no AF in sight?
I typically have a longer cycle (~37 days by this website's calculator). Just used OPK for the first time this cycle and it came up smiling on CD11, which was far earlier than expected. But we did the BD that night. I also continued the OPK for another 4 days in case it was a fluke but it was all negative. Based on a normal 28 day cycle, I would be due today but got BFN this AM. So my question is...is it possible to have conceived on CD11/12 and still have a negative test at this point? I feel like if I conceived that early a test should be positive by now regardless of the fact that I usually have a longer cycle. Also complicating things- if I ovulated on CD11, shouldn't I have gotten my period by now despite the fact that my cycle is usually longer? I thought once a woman ovulates, it's only 12-16 days until a period happens. Thank you for any advice! :)

Hi there. A positive OPK doesn't mean you ovulated then. Often women with longer cycles have multiple LH surges and so will get positives a couple of times in their cycles. The only way to know you ovulated is to do BBT charting or have a blood test. With a 37 day cycle you would expect to ovulate around day 23 (give or take a few days depending on your luteal phase).
Your luteal phase will be consistent so if you did ovulate earlier then your period would come ~ a couple of weeks after than depending on how long your luteal phase is (unless you are pregnant of course). And yes, you could expect a pregnancy test to be positive a couple of weeks after you ovulated. What cycle day are you on now?
