Is it possible to get pregnant just before starting my period if I'm told I have irregular cycles?
When I became pregnant with my son 7 years ago, I had a very strange dream the night before finding out that caused me to take a test (I was 4 weeks 1 day pregnant the day I missed my last period w that pregnancy, due date never changed). My bf recently moved to another state, so I'm well aware of when I've been active! LOL we were together the weekend of March 7. I started my last period the 9th. Starting on the 9th I have been having very vivid and detailed dreams, almost every night. This is very unusual for me, I never remember dreams. I'm wondering/hoping if this could be a sign...?? I'm due to start my next period next Sunday, April 6. Took a test this past Fri morning but it was neg. What do you all think???

You can only get pregnant from sex before or during your fertile period. That is about 2 weeks before your period for most people. It doesn't matter whether you are irregular or not, that length of time will be about the same for you each month. So, starting your period two days after sex means there is no way you could be pregnant from that cycle. If you had sex a couple of weeks before that there is a slightly higher chance, but the fact that you had a period makes that less likely.

YES YOU CAN! I did in fact get pregnant for my last daughter right BEFORE MY period! I ovulated late. I actually got my "period" the first month and dismissed being pregnant, even though I had my suspicions, but everyone kept telling me I couldn't have gotten pregnant then....well good thing I trusted my gut and tested again a week or two later because I was pregnant!!! and when I went for ultrasound..I was right.. I got pregnant right before my period! I know people say that you can only get pregnant during your quote/unquote fertile period.....but not true...you can get pregnant technically at anytime you have sex. I have THREE daughters that PROVE that and only One conception who fell into fertility phase. Good luck and listen to your body

U wont get pregnant from sex 2 days before a period, not possible, and ppl who say it is needs to take a very in depth lesson on the anatomy & physiology of the reproductive system. If the ONLY time u had sex was the wknd of March 7th, then u had a period March 9th, I'm talkin' an actual menstruation (full shedding of the lining) and not just spotting or a breakthrough bleed, then u would not get pregnant from that. Even if u managed to ovulate 2 days before ur suspected AF date, ur cycle would lengthen to accommodate otherwise the egg and all uterine contents would be flushed. It's annoying to read about ppl saying that this stuff is possible becuz it happened to them. Theyre always the ones who have no clue how things really work, or when their actual fertile period is/was. Ignorance is not bliss and if u cant back up what u say with much more than ur word of "it happened to me", then its not very credible, thousands of textbooks say otherwise!

Well as much as I appreciate all this input, I did not ask for opinions on other answers. Please refrain from that. I was informed when I was pregnant with my first son that I conceived the day before my LAST period. My due date did not change at all during the pregnancy. I always thought that was strange, bc I was under the assumption you can only become pregnant in the middle of your periods. Clearly that isn't exactly true. This is why I'm asking. It would be an absolute blessing if I were, and was curious IF it had happened to others or is even a possibility. Where is all your information from Dakotagurl?

If u conceived the day before ur last period, then that was not a period. People often use that word to explain any type of bleed thats heavier than spotting, but a true menstruation is a full shedding of the lining and all of its contents. Shedding a lining leaves nothing for a fertilized egg to implant in to, making it impossible. Now that being said, if it was just a bleed due to hormonal fluctuations (typical with ovulation), then the lining in its entirety would not be shed and there would still be enough to implant in to. All of my information was taught to me in school, through multiple professors with multiple textbooks. The same textbooks that doctors are required to read from in their schooling years. I also read/learn from the NIH website, great site, check it out. If u say u conceived a day before ur period, then thats ur belief. I choose to believe science, it has yet to steer me wrong so I'll stick with it.
Good luck with ur cycle.

Lol well alright then. I am sorry I don't have time to sit with my face in books all day, that's why I came here. I stated MY DOCTOR TOLD ME I conceived a day before my last period, so technically that's SCIENCE, and I did believe the doctor, stupid me! You can take you "better than thou" attitude to another question, and I thank you for your input.
