If they schedule you for an IUI, it should be the actual procedure. Are you regular? DO you know when you ovulate? The actual IUI is super easy. They use the clamp like you are getting a pap, then they stick this long catheter like thing up into your uterus and insert your partner's sperm.
I just had my first IUI last week and it was quick and easy. I wasn't ever regular so I was put on Femara to make my follicles mature and then I went in for an ultrasound about 11 days later to see if I had mature follicles/eggs. Then I had to give myself the Ovidrel shot (makes you ovulate), and then i scheduled my IUI for 36 hours later.
If I were you, I would call your doctor to see what exactly you are going to be doing on that day. And what you should do to prepare for the IUI if that is in fact what you are getting.
Good luck!!! :)

Since you don't know much at this point and just called for the appointment, it is highly unlikely you'll actually be getting the procedure done at this appointment. First they will want to time your cycle (so they know exactly when you ovulate and this also tells them when the endometrial lining is ready to receive/implant an embryo). You may have to go on birth control pills for a couple of weeks if ur cycle is not regular. They will also go over statistics of pregnancy rates, etc.
If you have not done any consultation for fertility issues and have issues, you may have to get that done first through a fertility specialist. It's pretty simple, mainly blood work and semen analysis for the guy. Doesn't take long to come back, maybe a week or less if I recall correctly. Then you take meds to make you produce a mature egg(s) (clomid or Gonal-F or something like that), then an Ovidrel trigger shot 3 days prior to ovulation and IUI.
