Question

First time being pregnant I hope!!

Hello all,
I guess I am just wondering if my chances are good that I am pregnant. I am 10 days past my ovulation and am experiencing some of the symptoms that would make me think I am. For the past 3 or 4 days I have needed to take naps during the day. I have also experienced vaginal discharge. My breasts feel full and my nipples are tender. No spotting yet but I do believe I have had mild cramps. Have not taken a pregnancy test just yet. Just was wondering if my chances are good that I am in deed pregnant?

Well, unfortunately you can't use symptoms as an indicator for pregnancy bc early pregnancy symptoms are pretty much identical to normal symptoms that you have during the luteal phase (the days between ovulation and the start of your period). That's bc both are ruled by the hormone progesterone. Tiredness, tender breasts, bloating, gassiness, nausea, cramping, creamy CM, etc are all common indicators that you ovulated and your progesterone has spiked as a result. Most women don't really notice these symptoms if they aren't trying to conceive bc it is just their normal "pms." However, when we ARE TTC, we notice everything! I'm on my 2nd pregnancy, and have never been able to confidently distinguish between early pregnancy signs and normal monthly symptoms. As for chances, as long as no one has any underlying fertility issues, and you maximized all of your fertile days, you have the same odds as any one else - 20-25% in any given cycle. GL! Hope this is your month! :)

I have those symptoms with almost every cycle so they are not a reliable indicator of pregnancy. When I was pregnant, I didn't notice anything until 13dpo. I had headaches and was more tired than usual but I thought I was just stressed out. Never thought I may have been pregnant until 13dpo when my temp jumped up instead of falling and I had cramps but was not bleeding. On that day, I also started having increased CM and was peeing every 15 minutes. I thought I had calculated my O date wrong and was actually about to O then so I took an OPK and it was + so I decided to do an HPT to see if it was neg. If it was neg, then I knew I truly was ovulating. However, within seconds I got a BFP. In hindsight, there were a couple things that were red flags but had I not gotten a BFP, those things wouldn't have had any significance. Try not to watch for symptoms. Just wait until your usual luteal phase length has passed and if you're still not bleeding, take a test. Easier said than done, I know!
