It only takes one sperm, so yes you can get pregnant from having sex one time if have sex when ovulating or before ovulating. Sperm can survive up to 7 days in right conditions (in fertile CM). An egg however has a short life span and you cannot get pregnant having sex after you ovulated. This is why charting (will get thermal shift AFTER egg released, EWCM is fertile CM, and cervical position will be high soft & open) and using OPKs to pinpoint patterns and ovulation are helpful. If you are TTC, try to have sex every 48 hours from end of period until confirmed ovulation as best to have sperm in there ready and waiting. GL!
