Question

Positive test but I took promethazine?

So my husband and I have been ttc for several months. During this time it was also discovered that I have H. Pylori (bacterial stomach infection). So for the past 5 days or so I've been on very high doses of antibiotics, a proton pump inhibitor, and phenergan. I got a BFP tonight and I'm so afraid it's a false positive from all these meds, especially the phenergan.. However, I've only taken one of them- the night before last. Does anyone else have experience with this? Should I stop taking all my meds? How long until my pregnancy test is considered accurate? I'm so frustrated.

I would definitely continue the meds, especially if you are still sick. You hear all the time that antibiotics and other meds can mess with birth control and other things, so I wouldn't think too much of it. However, I did get pregnant in February and was taking a "Class C" medication for Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ended up miscarrying due to the medication. So! It all just depends on what class of medication they are and the strength. I have never heard of Phenergan giving false positives though so maybe you are pregnant. Either way, you need to talk to your doctor and maybe even give the nurse on call from your local hospital a call and see what she/he says. That is who I called when I was pregnant and on that medication and she helped ease my fear a good bit. Good luck, honey!
