Anti-depressants and ttc....
Ladies I went to my doctor today to talk about a mild depression I have been sinking into because of 5 miscarriages and I haven't been able to get pregnant for a year now, all I want to do is be a woman and give my hubby a child and I can't do that and I feel like a huge failure. They decided to put me on citalopram (celexa) 20mg, I am a little curious as to if it will help me or hurt me more.... I want to be happy but I want to be pregnant at the same time and the doctor said sometimes if your depressed then it can put your body in a funk which makes it harder to conceive naturally. I guess what I'm looking for here is some reassurance. Has anyone else been put on meds to help with cooping?

Hey Hun, I have been on antidepressants and anti anxiety meds since I was 14 (now 21). I have also had 2 miscarriages since July this year.. The way my dr puts it to me is that the benefits outweigh the risks when TTC or when you do fall pregnant.. If you are that stressed and upset then you are less likely to concieve as your body thinks you won't be able to cope with a baby.. Just make sure the medication is safe to take if you do fall pregnant.. Hope you start feeling better soon. Feel free to pm me if you need to talk.. X
