Question

First month of preseed and soft cups. Any suggestions/advise?

After discovering that DH has a verrrry low sperm count (2 mill), we decided to use soft cups along with preseed (which we have been using). Any tips or advice on this? I am not really how to even use them, but I am sure will figure out it. I would also love to hear from some ladies who got their BFP's after using them. We are doing everything possible to bump DH's count. He is on fertilaid right now as well.

What is a soft cup??? Sorry we have been trying for 9 months and until that year mark I will not know anything. But I'm willing to try anything.

It's like a diaphragm but it's a single use thing. You just slide it in after baby dancing and keep it in as long as you like. It can stay in up to 12 hours. We are trying them this cycle. So far so good.

KB: Softcups are really menstrual cups, but lots of women use them to try and hold the semen close to their cervix to help with conceiving. There are some videos online showing them and other menstrual cups. Do a search and you'll see what we're talking about.

LS: No success for us yet, but I have generally found them comfortable and easy to use. I have slept with them in, no problem.

I did once have trouble with one in a rather slippy situation and discovered in the morning I hadn't put it on right - I'd managed to lasso it in front of my cervix and was putting pressure on my cervix sideways. Another time, I managed to slide the whole thing in the wrong angle completely so it was propping up the tunnel, so to speak. I was able to manoevre it back into place with some determination. I was more worried about the lost sperm than the discomfort.

I can't believe the things I end up doing to TTC. :-O

5 years TTC. Endometriosis and adenomyosis. Surgery. 2 IVFs. No joy. Low ovarian reserve. Is there any real hope? DE IVF = next step. Much higher success rates, but so used to things not working, it's hard to feel too hopeful. Wishing others an easier time.

I'm sorry LS that you question became a question for me too.

You can buy them in the feminine hygiene aisle of any grocery/drug store with the tampons, etc. I wouldn't use tampons (I think that is what you were saying) to aid sperm to the cervix. Tampons are made to absorb & you could be pulling semen away from your cervix.

You might have more success having him deposit the swim team directly into the soft cup, then inserting it.

I love the combination of the two! I've even suckered my hubby into helping with the insertion and removal since my hands are kind of small :P Even without the fertility factor, they help with the ..um.. leakage after sex. I did manage to get pregnant with them, but did have a chemical pregnancy. I don't have any tips, really. I do put a little preseed directly into the cup, however, after reading about women who did that since it would help the sperm make their trip out of it more easily!

Ladies, thank you so much for all your answers!! For some reason, CDTP is not notifying me when someone answers my question! Sorry for asking and ditching!

KBW-I bought mine from amazon.

I just bougth the 6 pack to try them out first. Since DH has a low count, I was told to try these this month. I have never heard using a tampon instead.

Shauna-Hmmm, I have never heard that either. Is that what you do?

Dana-Thanks for your comment. I have heard about some women having CP after using them. My fear is that it will allow the bad swimmers to reach the egg. Something I guess I will have to risk though :-/
