Ovulation period

Hi, If my period last for only 4 days, is my ovulation period still sticks on the 12-16 days? Does the number of days I menstruate affect the ovulation period? Is it true that the sperms can stay inside the body for at most 3 days and then it ll lose its 'effectiveness'?

The length of ur period has absolutely no bearing on when/if u ovulate. And pending conditions of the female reproductive tract at the time the sperm is deposited, it can survive up to 7 days. 7 is stretching it tho...2-3 is more common.
