Question

Do abnormal ovarian cysts cause a delay?

I was diagnosed with an abnormal looking ovarian cyst about a month ago. I get my periods and then i spot for three days and then i spotted again for three days a week later. my period is totally missing! i had flu like symptoms earlier this week and last week. i feel 100% better. but now no symptoms of anything. do cysts delay a period? i wouldnt think so because my dr told me to track my cycles till my next ultrasound. ive taken tests but all were negative. maybe i tested to early. i am not a good temp tracker. thanks!

It depends what is causing the cyst, so keep on waiting and check in with your doctor. Hope everything works out!

Shes waiting for it to shrink. What do you mean what would cause it? Its a follicular cycst that has abnormalities

There are several different types of ovarian cysts (such as follicular, cystadenomas, or dermoid). From my understanding with a follicular cyst, it would depend on whether the cyst prevented your egg from being released or if it formed after the egg was released but didn't go away. If the cyst prevented your egg from being released, it could but doesn't always delay your cycle because your body might act like you didn't ovulate. If the cyst formed after the egg was released but didn't go away, it shouldn't delay your cycle.
