Question

5 wks ultrasound showing gestational sac and a white speck. Is this bad or just too early for test?

Hi there- I found out I was pregnant after I had a miscarraige and d & c on July 26th. According to my charting I would be about 5 weeks or 5 weeks 2 days. I went to have a transvaginal ultrasound yesterday and all that was found was a gestational sac measuring .95 cm and a white dot that the tech thought could be the beginnings of a yolk sac. Obviously I am going in for another scan next week but am completely freaking out that this is not normal. Does anyone have any advice or experiences similar? Any advice or good outcomes would be much appreciated!

I had my first U/S at 5w6d as I thought I was 6w and was going for my dating scan this is what they do in Australia. I was only 5w6d and they saw the gestational sac and the yolk sac but no baby or heartbeat as too early. I went back at 6w5d and everything was there incl baby and Hb was perfect. I am now 8 weeks. Maybe you just need to give it a little more time. Best of luck for you next scan. Sorry I don't have any experience with M/C as have never had one. I wish you lot's of luck :-)

I also had a transvaginal scan at around seven weeks, which came back at the baby being 5 weeks + 5 days - The babies heartbeat was there and everything was well. I still was extremely worried. However she told me that all babies progress at their own pace in the early stages, that is why they do a dating scan at the end of the first trimester when the baby is developed enough.

I really would not worry, stay positive and remember that your baby will be fine. Good Luck! xx
