Question

Am I going into preterm labor?!

I have been experiencing contractions, 30 minutes apart at the most and 5 minutes apart at the least, for about 3 or 4 weeks now as well as a huge increase in discharge in the past 2 weeks(so much it made my jeans damp in that area). Friday I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a VERY small amount of bright red blood. Today(Sunday) I woke up with steady back pain. I have read on a few websites that it could have been my water breaking. This is my first child and I'm 29 weeks and 3 days.

Your contractions sound like braxton hicks which are just false contractions that happen irregularly, don't pick up in intensity, and do not lead to the birth of baby. An increase in discharge is totally normal in pregnancy, as is spotting. When your water breaks, it is normally pretty obvious, however some women do leak amniotic fluid and never notice that their water has broken. The only thing I find slightly noteworthy is the steady back pain. Is the back pain out of the ordinary? You are reaching the stage in pregnancy where your back is going to start hurting from the weight of the preg. My OB said that if I ever notice unusual back pain to let them know, because that can be a sign of labor. You may want to call your OB - they will have an on call doctor/nurse call you back since it is Sunday - and they will advise you on what to do. They may want you to go to the hospital because there is a machine they can hook you up to to verify if you are having real contractions/labor.

My doctor told me they ARE real contractions not Braxton hicks but they aren't causing my cervix to dilate. It was a sudden increase in discharge not like it's been the whole time and the blood happened after the left side of my face and neck went numb it's been having a stinging feeling since then and I have a sore throat but only on the left side and an ear ache but only on the left side.
