Question

How to tell my Mom and Dad I'm pregnant at the age of 29

Ok, this is going to sound weird but it's just how my family thinks. I am pregnant with my first child, the father and I are not married (nor do we plan on it) but have a very close relationship. I'm afraid to tell my parents because I've been a constant disappointment to them, even after two college degrees, becoming independent from them, and did I mention I was 29 (yes and afraid to tell them). I want them to be excited and not disappointed with me, how can I tell them so they're happy for me?

My family was the same way with my sister.she was 25 and not married. my parents weren't happy at first but by the end of pregnancy they were excited. I know how stressed my sister was to tell them she went to my mom first then they both talked tool my dad.

You could go about it two ways. The first way is to just be blunt and tell them straight out. The other way is you could give them some type of clues almost like a scavenger hunt. If you live on your own invite them over for lunch or dinner then maybe you could play a game to involve clues, or something like that, then for desert you can write it on a cake or buy them a grandparent card.
Oh I just thought of a different way for fathers day you could get your dad a happy grandfathers day card or something like that.
It's kind of hard to say which way is best because I don't know you or your family, but just brainstorming some ideas.
They might be upset but they will come around. You are an adult and adults have children. Good luck. I'm happy for you.
Wishing you the best pregnancy.

FIRST OF ALL.... A GIANT CONGRATULATIONS! Especially if you're excited to be a mommy.
Next...Your life isn't theirs. They gave you life to be a part of their family. Not to stop you from being independent. If they can't accept your failures, should any exist in their mind, then they obliviously aren't parenting right. Everybody makes mistakes.
Now...everybody makes mistakes. Some of the greatest gifts have come as a surprise. Or in some cases out of a mistake. But...I wouldn't call a baby one. lol
Anyhow...stand up to them as a woman. You don't live for them but you love them. You let them know with pride in your heart bc if you give any indication of shame, that's how they'll take it and see it.
This is a positive event, see it that way regardless of what anybody thinks!
I was 22 and married with my 1st but even if I wasn't married, I knew I was woman enough to be a great mother! Congrats & Good luck with your parents. <3

CONGRATULATIONS!! My mom wasn't too thrilled at first, neither was my stepdad, but after it sank it she was really excited and very happy :) Now my little boy turns their world upside down when we visit in a great way, he loves them all and they love him. I agree with redpenelope, maybe find a fun way to tell them! Check out some ideas on pinterest. It'll be a great journey, I think the hardest part will be spitting it out and telling them. And remember, stress is bad for a pregnancy, so be joyful! Pray about having the right words and pray that their hearts will be receptive. I'll say a prayer for you too :) Again, congratulations and good luck mama!
