does metformin regulate cycles?

I started metformin on 4/10/2013 with 1000 mg. I was wodering if this helps regulate cycles? I am on it for diabetes. and pcos. if it does how long does it take?

It does help to regulate cycles (I'm on it for my PCOS). My dr said it takes about three months. Also works best if you stick to a low carb no sugar diet.
