So, 2 weeks ago i had my 4th iui, a full year after the 3rd. I got pregnant on the third (miscarriage) and i just found out that i am pregnant. Our issue is also male factor, with washed sperm counts at 2.5t million with 35% motility. We were giving a 10% chance of this working. So i think iui is very worth it!

IUI was a nightmare for me! The drugs made me crazy! To add to the insanity, no one told me about the side effects of the medications. It was a nightmare. I was the most ill I have ever been in my life. My body did weird things that I never want to go through again. Proceed with caution. PS. if you decide against IUI there are other options you can pursue to help your husband improve his sperm quality. If you're interested I can give you some more info.

Im having my first IUI on monday april 15th. i did 4 rounds of clomid and never Ovulated. i did 4 rounds of Femara and ovidrel injections with no luck. So now iam on femara ovidrel and IUI. Hopefully it works. i have heard alot of good things about it and am trying to stay positive.

Hi doll, I did 2 rounds of IUI. DH is perfectly healthy (has two children already) I am 24 with a mild case of pcos. Im honestly not even sure if my RE knows why Im not getting pregnant (5 rounds of clomid- 2 mc and a chemical) and 2 failed IUI's when I had multiple "great" sized follicles. I know most REs say that it takes them 3 rounds to get you pregnant on the IUI -ALL of my friends that I know got pregnant on round three. If you are paying out of pocket I would say try at least one round and see what else you can do naturally. I did not have nearly as many side effects as I did on the clomid (that was terrible). I found IUI to be emotionally draining, I was going every other morning for blood work and ultra sounds. DH and I are doing through IVF this time around. If I was paying out of pocket I would want something with a higher success rate- IUI is uaually a 10- 15% chance if I remember correcrly.

I am in the TWW for my first IUI. So far I feel fine. I took five rounds of Clomid before this and I feel about the same as I did with those. I don't know if this first round has worked yet. There was a little more monitoring, but it's up to each doctor how they want to do that. If you are worried, sit down with your doctor and have him/her lay it all out. How much it will cost, how much monitoring, which drugs you'll need, side effects, and chance of success.

Thanks Kay for sharing your experience. I have decided to dig nothing this cycle. No fertility pills, no checking ovulation, and no iui. I need a break however we will be trying the iui next cycle so I'm preparing myself for that procedure
