Technically u could if u take very high doses over an extended period of time, but the likelihood of it is slim becuz it is a B vitamin and is water-soluble. If ur uncomfortable with 5mg, cut it in half or quarters (I'm all for cutting vitamins in half, can ya tell?!) Does ur prenatal have FA in it? It should, and that would be enough until u get back from ur trip.

Hahaha, strangely enough, I dont cut any of mine.

My husband works for a pharmaceutical company and folic acid is their best-selling item. They only come in a 5mg size. My doctor told me to take two a day. I don't. 5mg is plenty, but yes, it's like vitamin C. Whatever you don't need gets flushed out.

some side effects of too much folic acid is itching and increased appetite. just cut in half if ure worried . goodluck

Good to know renee, because I stared developing yeast infection. One of the girls here told me to get Canesten cream which I did and already feel better. Don't know whether the folic acid has something to do with it but I'll be careful with the dose. Thanks :)
