Implantation bleeding or early period spotting?

This morning around 645 am I went to the bathroom and had some light pink blood on the toilet paper, not very much at all. I assumed I was starting my period because I usually do between cd 29 (today) and cd 31. I put in a tampon and when I went to change it, noticed it had no blood on it, nor have I bled since this morning. I know that implantation bleeding usually occurs before your expected period, but could that be what this is? And if so, how long after should I test?
