My ob/gyn told me it could happen right away or could take up to six months. He told me to think of my eggs like a herd of horses that had been pinned up for a lon time. Th IUD is a fence. When you remove the fence the horses will either be skiddish for a while or form herding out all at once. He also told me you don't ovulate while you have an IUD.

Hey, thanks for the advice. Ovulation still occurs with Paragard but the copper in the IUD kills sperm preventing fertilization....and if fertilization does occur, the uterine lining is altered making implantation difficult.

That is why I am confused about my uterine lining at this point (10 days post Paragard removal, 8 dpo)....how long does it take for everything to become copacetic??

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I conceived in the same cycle of my Paragard removal. I am now 4 weeks pregnant and praying that my child will continue to grow.

Did it take you longer to get a BFP? I had my Paragard IUD removed about 5 days before ovulation, and I am now 3 days late with a BFN? So confused. TIA!!

I'm not sure about the Mirena, but with the Paragard you do in fact ovulate every month (if that is how your body works); it does not stop you from ovulating it just creates a hostile environment and doesn't allow sperm to live.

I had the Paragard removed on February 19th had AF on February 21st and ovulated around March 11th. I'm not testing until March 26th so we'll see.

We decided to only try for 3 months (because it makes me crazy waiting! :) ), but reading posts that I might reconsider that decision.
