Question

Should I still take Clomid?

I have been off the pill for four months now. I didn't ovulate at all for those four months, which I expected since I've never really had normal periods. I went to the doctor yesterday morning and she prescribed progesterone so I could have a withdrawal bleed before I start Clomid, which I used to get pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago.

Anyway, later yesterday afternoon, before I ever took any progesterone, I started my period. I must have ovulated on my own without meds. So should I still take Clomid this month? My cycles are never regular, but I'm worried that if I take Clomid and ovulate in my own, I could end up with twins. That is the last thing I want, twins would not be an enjoyable experience for me. Thanks in advance!

There is always a 10% chance of twins with clomid. That being said - it does help you create better quality eggs, even if you are ovulating on your own.

Also - sometimes you have a "period" even if you weren't ovulating. They call it a withdrawal bleed. The nice thing about clomid is that you will usually ovulate with it - so it will help to regulate your cycle.
