Blue Dye False Positives and Negatives
I'm a little stressed out because I took a blue dye test (before I read that blue dyes tend to be bad) and got a negative. Now that I've read usually a good portion of everyone who takes a blue dye test gets a FALSE positive, I'm worried that means my negative is a for sure deal and I'm not pregnant this month. I started crying when I thought of this and hoped maybe I tested too early and was wondering if any other woman took a blue dye that was negative and then turned out to be pregnant or what not?

Try a first response test. I was about 9 DPO, took a EPT test and was a very faint positive. Later that afternoon, took a First reponse test and it was clearly positive. Not as dark as the lines typically are but it was obvious. I have tested both days since then and it keeps getting darker! Not sure id this helps but definately try First Response.

I got a BFP with a blue dye test on the 11th and spent the evening over the moon ecstatic, crying tears of joy, and even telling my sister I was expecting only to follow it up with 3 negatives the next morning and evening from the same brand (one from the same box). I'm TTC #2 and I was nearly 7 weeks pg before I got a BFP with #1, so I'm not giving up hope just yet for this cycle. I'm almost 3 weeks late and peed a BFN this morning with a FRER. One thing is for CERTAIN, I will NEVER use a blue dye test again EVER! The negatives were that much more devastating after getting a definite blue positive within a couple minutes of taking the test. I wouldn't worry, though, that not getting a false BFP means you're definitely not pg this cycle. It's never over until AF shows! Given my symptoms, I do feel like I am pg and just waiting on the proof, whenever it may come.

I got a false positive on a Target brand blue dye, the kind in the clear casing with 2 parallel lines. It wasn't an evap but a big fat definite blue line--I sent a pic to DBF and my phone sucks, and even he could see the line in such a poor quality photo. Anyway, I took an FRER right after that, another FRER the next morning: both completely negative. AF arrived today. I'm NEVER using blue dye again--not worth the emotional toll at all.
